Chang Gung Medical System has integrated digital transformation into its ESG governance to coordinate operations across its large network of hospitals. It has established a shared data platform and uses HIMSS international healthcare information maturity benchmarks to assess progress. The approach helps its hospitals apply consistent standards to healthcare data, carbon accounting and energy performance, reducing the risk of decisions based solely on experience.

Chang Gung Medical System has recently introduced AI-based electricity-demand forecasting and air-conditioning energy optimization, combined with smart energy monitoring. This shifts energy management from retrospective reviews to predictive decision-making, with electricity forecasts achieving 98% accuracy. Reports did not disclose when the project was implemented, the amount invested or the actual energy savings. Its emissions-reduction benefits have yet to be quantified and verified.
