Morgan Stanley CFO Sees Asset Tokenization as Next Big Step for Wealth Management
Asset tokenization converts rights to stocks, bonds and other assets into blockchain tokens, accelerating trading, lending and settlement. Morgan Stanley's wealth management division oversaw $7.4 trillion in client assets at the end of 2025, meaning its adoption of onchain infrastructure could influence how large financial institutions serve high-net-worth clients.
Chief Financial Officer Sharon Yeshaya said during a first-quarter earnings call on April 15, 2026, that Morgan Stanley was exploring ways to put assets and liabilities onchain while integrating advisory, lending and cash management services. The bank has piloted E*Trade cryptocurrency trading with Zero Hash, while its spot Bitcoin ETF, MSBT, rose 8% in its first week of trading.
