Taiwan Mobile’s TWEX Marks First Anniversary, With Half of Users Aged 40 or Older
Taiwan Mobile’s virtual asset exchange TWEX launched in July 2025, combining the telecom operator’s brand with regulated trading services in an effort to take crypto assets beyond tech-savvy younger users and into the mainstream investment market. Data released for its first anniversary showed that 50% of users were aged 40 or older, indicating that the age profile of Web3 participants is gradually broadening.
In July 2026, TWEX released operating data for its first year, showing that nearly 70% of transactions were worth less than NT$1,000 as users largely participated with small amounts. The platform also introduced a recurring investment service with a minimum contribution of NT$100, alongside anniversary fee discounts, in a bid to lower the barriers to first-time purchases and continued investment in virtual assets.
