2 reports · First detected 2026-05-27 · Last active 2026-05-27

Generative AI is driving cloud providers to expand data centers, lifting demand for server DRAM and high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, and pushing up memory contract prices. TrendForce said DRAM has become a critical component of AI infrastructure. Samsung Electronics and Micron are continuing to expand production to address tight supplies and rising orders.

TrendForce's latest research showed that global DRAM industry revenue approached $100 billion in the first quarter of 2026, surging 81% from the fourth quarter of 2025 to an all-time high. Revenue at Chinese producer ChangXin Memory Technologies grew by more than 700% from a year earlier as it accelerated its push into the AI market. Samsung Electronics and Micron, meanwhile, are expanding capacity to capture demand for HBM and data centers.
