Giga Computing, NTU Win SC25 Student Cluster Competition

The Student Cluster Competition has been held alongside the annual international supercomputing conference since 2007. It challenges students to complete scientific simulations, AI tasks and system-performance tests within a fixed power budget, providing a key test of high-performance computing integration and real-time optimization skills. National Taiwan University entered for the first time, with support from Giga Computing and the National Center for High-performance Computing under the National Applied Research Laboratories.

From November 17 to 19, 2025, NTU’s six-member team topped seven other teams on overall scores to win the SC25 competition in St. Louis, Missouri. Giga Computing supplied four GIGABYTE G494-ZB4-AAP2 servers. Working within a 10,000-watt limit, the team cut each server’s idle power consumption from about 700 watts to 200 watts while optimizing AI and HPC workloads.
