SK Hynix Invests in Semidynamics to Develop 3-Nanometer RISC-V AI Inference Chip
SK Hynix, one of the world’s leading memory manufacturers, has made a strategic investment in Spanish chip designer Semidynamics. The companies aim to combine memory technology with RISC-V processors to build a “memory-centric” AI inference architecture that reduces the latency and energy consumption caused by moving data during large-model computations.
Following the investment from SK Hynix, Semidynamics is working with TSMC to advance the tape-out of a 3-nanometer AI inference chip. It also plans to deliver a complete solution integrating chips, hardware racks and a software stack. As of the publication of the related reports, the companies had not disclosed the investment amount, transaction date or timetable for mass production of the chip.
