Taiwan’s Young Investors Build NT$770,000 Portfolios on AI Chip Bets
Securities accounts for minors in Taiwan are typically managed by parents as vehicles for financial education and long-term wealth building. The latest data from SinoPac Securities show that these young shareholders are heavily exposed to leading artificial-intelligence and semiconductor companies, underscoring families’ confidence in Taiwan’s technology sector and their preference for regular investment plans that reduce market-timing risk.
At the time of the latest survey, the average stock portfolio held in a SinoPac Securities minor account exceeded NT$770,000 ($24,000), while the number of new accounts rose to 2.5 times the year-earlier level. More than 80% of holdings were concentrated in AI and semiconductor heavyweights including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and MediaTek Inc., pointing to a long-term parental bet on growth from artificial intelligence.
