Crypto Custodian Taurus Secures Cyprus MiFID II License to Enter EU Capital Markets
Founded in Switzerland in 2018, Taurus provides digital-asset custody and tokenization infrastructure to more than 40 banks worldwide and obtained a license from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, or FINMA, in 2021. MiFID II covers securities and investment services, allowing Taurus to connect crypto-native technology with the EU’s regulated capital markets.
On May 6, 2026, Taurus announced that its Cyprus subsidiary, Taurus (Europe) Ltd, had received a MiFID II investment firm license, number 465/26, from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, or CySEC. After completing notification and passporting procedures, it will be able to serve all 27 EU member states and support secondary trading in tokenized bonds, fund units, equities and structured products. No transaction or financing amount was disclosed.
