OpenAI Launches Admin Plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex
As adoption of ChatGPT Work and Codex expands across enterprises, IT teams often have to move among analytics dashboards, access settings and request reports to manage users and spending. OpenAI’s Admin plugin brings those functions into a conversational interface, linking workspace insights to permission-aware actions. The product is designed to help administrators keep growing deployments secure, productive and within budget while retaining existing roles, approval requirements and workspace policies.
OpenAI introduced the Admin plugin on August 25, 2026, allowing administrators to review activity and credit usage, add or remove members, change group and model permissions, adjust usage limits, and approve or deny spending requests. Workflows can route requests to Slack or Microsoft Teams and automatically handle qualifying access requests. OpenAI said its internal ChatGPT Work workflows were resolving about 45% of IT ticket volume and had helped eliminate a backlog even as support volume roughly doubled. The company did not announce a separate price for the plugin.
