Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable Proposes Nine Policies, Urges Lower Financial Business Tax
Marking its 20th anniversary, the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable is focusing on the financial sector’s tax regime and funding environment. The financial business tax directly affects costs and international competitiveness for banks, insurers and other financial firms, while family trust tax rules are critical to wealth succession and the development of asset management in an aging society.
As of July 20, 2026, the group had put forward nine policy recommendations in a 20th-anniversary publication. They include reviewing the financial business tax rate, improving family trust tax rules, steering about NT$37 trillion in insurance industry funds toward national infrastructure, green energy and healthcare, and continuing to assess the effects of the transition to IFRS 17 and TW-ICS.
