UK Investors Sue Binance and Changpeng Zhao for $200 Million
Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority has prohibited the sale, marketing or distribution to retail customers of derivatives referencing unregulated cryptoassets since January 6, 2021. The case centers on whether Binance offered leveraged tokens, futures and options without authorization from late 2019 and could help define the compensation liability of offshore exchanges under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
On June 30, 2026, KP Law filed a lawsuit in London’s High Court on behalf of nearly 1,700 UK investors, seeking at least £150 million, or about $200 million, from Binance Holdings, Nest Exchange, founder Changpeng Zhao and unidentified platform operators. Some claimants reported losses of tens of thousands of pounds. Binance said it would defend the case through the appropriate legal process, and the court has not determined liability.
