Taiwan FSC Orders Insurers to Maintain Services and Bolster Cybersecurity Over Tomb-Sweeping Holiday

Policyholders may still face car accidents, hospitalization or other emergencies requiring immediate notification during the Tomb-Sweeping holiday. Interruptions to claims services or policy consultations could delay the handling of their rights and benefits. Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission has therefore ordered property and life insurers to keep service channels open while strengthening information-system security to ensure emergency assistance and protect personal data.

With the 2026 Tomb-Sweeping holiday approaching, the FSC recently instructed property and life insurers to provide toll-free service hotlines staffed by dedicated personnel who can help policyholders handle emergencies. It also ordered insurers to strengthen cybersecurity defenses and monitoring to prevent hackers from exploiting the holiday period and compromising policyholder data, services or rights.
