Taiwan Sets Oct. 30 Deadline for Free AI Computing Subsidy

Training and deploying generative AI models requires substantial GPU capacity, a cost that can prevent smaller companies and startups from moving beyond early experiments. Taiwan’s Administration for Digital Industries, under the Ministry of Digital Affairs, is offering free computing resources to eligible businesses for training, fine-tuning and inference with open-source large language models. The program is intended to lower development barriers and accelerate the conversion of AI prototypes into commercial products and services.

Applications for the full-year subsidy program close on Oct. 30, with proposals accepted according to the announced funding rounds. The computing platform supports Taiwan-developed TAIDE, Meta Platforms’ Llama family and Google’s Gemma 4, among other open-source models. Selected teams will receive GPU capacity at no charge and may also receive priority access to follow-on AI investment programs, giving successful applicants a potential route from technical validation to funding and industry partnerships.
