Salesforce to Acquire AI Customer-Service Platform Fin for $3.6 Billion

3 reports · First detected 2026-06-15 · Last active 2026-06-16

Fin was formerly Intercom, a customer-service software provider founded in 2011, and adopted its new name in May 2026 as it made AI customer-service agents its core focus. Salesforce has been pursuing enterprise automation through Agentforce. Acquiring Fin would add rapidly deployable vertical models and more than 30,000 enterprise customers, strengthening Salesforce's position in the customer-service AI market.

Salesforce signed an agreement on June 15, 2026, to acquire Fin for about $3.6 billion. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce's fiscal 2027. Fin says Apex outperforms OpenAI and Anthropic models in customer-service resolution rates and can automatically handle an average of 76% of customer-service volume. Agentforce's annual recurring revenue reached $1.2 billion over the same period, up 205% from a year earlier.
