2 reports · First detected 2026-02-26 · Last active 2026-02-26

U.S. digital bank Chime has challenged traditional banks with low-fee mobile financial services. Active membership and card usage are key measures of customer engagement and revenue potential. Members’ growing use of Chime for daily transactions and credit spending also reflects intensifying competition between digital banks and traditional financial institutions.

Chime’s latest results for the fourth quarter of 2025 showed that active membership had reached 9.5 million as demand for services such as earned wage access continued to grow. The share of Chime Card spending made on credit rose by 5 percentage points to 21% from 16%, indicating a marked increase in credit card usage and showing that more members are making the platform their primary financial services hub.

Chime Raises 2026 Member Target as Paycheck Products Surge2026-08-06 · 1 reports · similarity 0.83

Chime Financial is a fintech company rather than a bank, with deposit accounts provided by The Bancorp Bank and Stride Bank. Its model centers on converting direct-deposit relationships into broader use of cards and liquidity products such as MyPay and Instant Loans. Recurring paychecks give Chime first-party income and transaction data for underwriting, while incoming deposits provide an advantageous repayment position, supporting lower-cost lending and deeper customer engagement.

On Aug. 5, Chime reported results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, saying late-stage direct-deposit conversions reached a quarterly record. The company raised its full-year net new Active Member target to 1.8 million from 1.4 million. MyPay originations reached $4.5 billion, with its loss rate improving to 0.9% and transaction profit rising to $73 million. Instant Loans originations climbed nearly 70% from the previous quarter to $300 million.
