Samsung's HBM4E Yield Tops 70% as It Chases SK hynix

High-bandwidth memory (HBM) is a key component for boosting the computing performance of NVIDIA AI accelerators, and SK hynix currently leads the market. Samsung Electronics is seeking to narrow the gap with seventh-generation HBM4E. Its yields and reliability will directly affect the pace of mass production and its ability to secure NVIDIA orders.

As of July 20, 2026, Samsung Electronics said the yield in HBM4E reliability testing had exceeded 70%, gradually approaching the threshold for mature mass production. Samsung CTO Song Jae-hyuk also said the company aims to overtake its rivals with next-generation DRAM. Samsung has yet to disclose a shipment timetable, customer-validation results or order values.

Samsung Electronics is seeking to leverage its rare combination of memory manufacturing and foundry operations to coordinate memory dies, custom logic base dies and advanced packaging.
