Musk’s Terafab Targets Taiwan’s 2-Nanometer and CoWoS Talent with High-Pay Offers

Elon Musk’s Terafab is focusing its recruitment drive on Taiwan’s semiconductor talent as it seeks to expand in-house chip production. It is targeting senior engineers with experience in TSMC’s 2-nanometer process and CoWoS advanced packaging. Both technologies are critical to AI chip performance and mass-production capacity, making the movement of skilled workers a factor in global supply-chain competition.

As of July 20, 2026, reports said Terafab was offering roughly three times TSMC’s salaries—more than two times higher—although base salaries and total compensation for the positions were not disclosed. TSMC Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei responded that there are no shortcuts in the semiconductor industry. Building fabs, installing equipment and accumulating process expertise all take years before mass-production capacity can be established.
