Arm-Backed Tongbao Semiconductor Files for Emerging-Market Listing, Targets Edge AI and Post-Quantum Cryptography

4 reports · First detected 2026-04-20 · Last active 2026-05-29

Tongbao Semiconductor specializes in highly integrated systems-on-chip and has established expertise in chips for printing equipment. It also secured Arm’s first direct investment in Taiwan, though the amount has not been disclosed. The partnership is significant because it extends Tongbao’s existing chip capabilities into Edge AI and post-quantum cryptography, lowering computing and cybersecurity barriers for endpoint devices.

Tongbao joined Taiwan’s Emerging Stock Market on May 15 at a reference price of NT$110 per share and surged 381% on its first trading day. It plans to apply for a stock-exchange listing in the second half of the year. Ahead of COMPUTEX, Arm’s chief commercial officer visited Tongbao to underscore plans for deeper cooperation. The company will next bring its SoC and security technologies to edge-computing markets including drones and AI robots.
