LeBron James Teases Polymarket Partnership
Polymarket, a crypto-based prediction market, and federally regulated rival Kalshi have been pushing deeper into professional sports, where event contracts can turn player moves into heavily traded assets. LeBron James became a showcase for that expansion during his 2026 free agency: markets tied to his next team and related outcomes generated about $273 million in combined trading volume across the two platforms, underscoring the commercial pull of athlete-driven speculation.
James posted a social-media video on Sept. 5 showing him arriving at Polymarket’s headquarters and teasing “coming soon,” signaling a prospective partnership with the platform. Neither James nor Polymarket disclosed the arrangement’s scope, financial terms or launch date. The teaser nevertheless drew immediate attention because it followed the $273 million burst of trading around his free-agent destination and comes as prediction-market operators compete for deeper ties to major U.S. sports.
