Meta Reportedly Developing Arena Prediction-Market App to Challenge Polymarket
Prediction markets allow users to trade on the outcomes of political, economic and social events, with Polymarket and Kalshi emerging as leading platforms. Meta's vast Facebook and Instagram audiences could change how users obtain information and participate in event forecasting. Such a move could also extend regulatory and gambling-related controversies to major social-media platforms.
The New York Times reported that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had instructed staff to develop Arena as a standalone app. The initial version would use points rather than real money to predict event outcomes. As of July 19, 2026, Meta had not announced a launch date, investment amount or formal business model. The company could eventually add cash betting and direct Facebook and Instagram users to the app.
