Polymarket Tightens Rules to Curb Insider Trading and Bolster Market Integrity
Polymarket operates both a decentralized finance (DeFi) prediction market and a US exchange regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). As its trading volume and influence grow, preventing people with nonpublic information from placing bets and stopping artificial price manipulation have become critical to maintaining fair and credible markets.
Polymarket recently updated the market-integrity rules for both platforms, explicitly strengthening its prohibitions on insider trading and market manipulation. Chief Legal Officer Neal Kumar said the measures would provide clear guidelines for all participants. As of July 19, 2026, the platform had not disclosed when the rules would take effect, the value of any related cases, or details of any new financial penalties.
